How did you get into Yoga?
The summer after completing my sophomore year of college, I felt a huge urge to start doing some type of physical activity for myself. I was very unhappy with my body and how I felt. So I decided it was time to get involved in some sort of activity that would benefit me physically and mentally. I always struggled with going to the gym, never really feeling confident or fulfilled after my work out. Yoga was always something I was interested in but never really gave it a chance. Finally, that summer I decided to take my first hot yoga class, and immediately became addicted going every day for a month straight. The more and more I went, I could start seeing and feeling the changes my mind and body were making. Now, almost four years later, I am so happy to be able to help people through yoga, the way yoga has helped me!
What is your favorite yoga pose?
My favorite yoga pose is pigeon. I have always found this pose a great way to release tension in my body. Whenever I am feeling heavy in my hips I immediately go to this pose and just breathe.
What are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for my family. I have 4 sisters (3 older and 1 younger). Growing up they were, and still are my role models. I am also very blessed to have such supportive loving parents. They have always stood by my side and encouraged me to pursue my passions in life.
What is your go-to Karaoke song?
My go to karaoke song is Say My Name by Destiny’s Child! I love all 90’s throwbacks like the Spice Girls, NSYNC, and Britney Spears.
If you could master one skill you don’t have what would it be?
Ever since I could remember I loved being at the beach. The ocean has such a special place in my heart. Over the past few summers I started getting involved with more water activities such as stand up paddle boarding and kayaking. One skill I would love to master that I don’t have would be water skiing. Whenever I see people water skiing I always think they look so bada**!
