This 2-hour workshop with Alicia will offer an introduction to the Ashtanga Yoga System in the traditional Mysore-Style of self-practice as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. Mysore-Style Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional method that allows the student to develop and practice at an individualized pace. During instruction the student receives one-on-one supervision and adjustments by the teacher and are taught new postures as the student’s individual strength and proficiency evolve.
The sequential process of learning Ashtanga Yoga allows its practitioners to develop the concentration, strength, flexibility and stamina needed to progress in a safe and balanced manner. Each series begins with the same standing postures and finishes with the same sequence of closing postures. All postures are linked together through the breath in a continuous flow or sequence (Vinyasa) of movements.
In this one-on-one workshop we will focus on learning the Primary Series poses, however, if you have an established practice that includes the Intermediate Series we welcome your participation.
